About Kate

Psychotherapy is a second career for me, and one I can foresee doing well into my late years. Every day, I am amazed and inspired by the profound changes that can occur when clients have the courage to face their fears and invest in their personal growth.

There are two entirely opposite attitudes possible in facing the problems of one’s life: one, to try and change the external world, the other, to try and change oneself. ~ Joanna Field

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I have a Master’s Degree in counseling and have passed the National Certification exam in order to become licensed in the State of Colorado. My Post-Masters training has been centered in traditional therapies such as, Cognitive Behavioral, Gestalt, and Family Systems. I also continue to train in alternative/holistic therapies that support health in the whole person. I have been in private practice for 15+ years in Arvada, Colorado.

Clients have described me as personable, intuitive, current in the field of psychology, and highly professional. I have a direct approach and prefer understanding client’s struggles in the context of their lives rather than labeling them with a diagnosis. I believe that most client concerns do not stem from mental illness, but rather are normal and expected results of living in our fast paced era.

When clients and friends ask me, “How can you enjoy being a therapist? Doesn’t it bring you down?” My reply is, unequivocally, that I love my work. I feel privileged to be working with people who desire to be more authentic in their personal life and experience more truth in their relationships. My commitment is to partner with you in Opening Doors to explore new vistas in your life.
